"Palekh Box" Takes Silver at Red Apple

The large-scale public awareness campaign “Buckle Up!” has won an award at the Red Apple Moscow International Advertising and Marketing Festival. The central element of the campaign, a television advert entitled “Palekh Box”, took silver in the “TV and cinema advertising” category for its visual effects and animation.

The “Buckle Up!” campaign ran throughout Russia in spring and summer of this year. The project was organised by the General Department of Road Traffic Safety of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the NGO Road Safety Russia, and the Russian Association of Motor Insurers. The central campaign element was a short clay animation produced in the style of a Palekh miniature. The “Decorative Box” advert was directed by the well-known animator, artist and producer Mikhail Aldashin.

The Red Apple award ceremony was held in the evening of 27th September in the Icon Hall. This year, more than 270 agencies competed to be the best in the industry. A total of 1242 projects were entered for the competition, of which only 377 made it to the shortlist. The winners were chosen by an international jury representing leading advertising industry players from the United States, France, Finland, England, Romania, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Austria, the Netherlands and Germany. The jury was headed by Ami Hasan, founder and creative director of the Finnish agency Hasan & Partners.
