"Cresland Treasures" visited Ryazan

06 November 2011

Only ten Russian cities Ryazan inclusive were lucky enough to take part in the All-Russian large-scale campaign "Car Seat to Every Child". After visiting Kaluga, Tula, and Tambov... the show was approaching Ryazan where local residents were anxiously waiting for visitors from Moscow. It is worth mentioning that all expectations were met.
As a part of the All-Russian social campaign "Car Seat to Every Child" on November 6 an informative and educational event "Cresland Treasures" to place in the shopping and entertainment center "Cruise" in Ryazan. The show was attended by children and their parents.

Residents of the regional center grew accustomed to the fact that visiting the shop to make some shopping they often met traffic inspectors. Citizens grew accustomed to contests, games, quizzes on the issue of road traffic set up by policemen in the shopping mall. However, the event that took place on November 6 in "Cruise" shopping mall was something exceptional in its magnitude. The initiator and organizer of the action was the General Directorate of traffic police in Russia; the support was provided by the "Russian Union of Car Insurers” and NGO «Risk Free Road Traffic". The officers of the traffic police of Ryazan region were also involved in the activity.
The fairy-tale characters Leo, Bunny and Robotop were meeting children at the entrance to the mall inviting them to participate in "Cresland Treasures" quest.
"Cresland Treasures" is not just a pastime for children and their parents having a mysterious name. This is a real training leading to forming a strong conviction in both adults and children that without car seats young passengers were not allowed riding inside the cars.
In the first round of the adventure game the parents had to select the appropriate car seat for their children (taking into account the weight and height of the child) and fasten the child inside in the seat within the shortest time possible. The task seemed to be quite simple. However, short seat belts required adjustment which took some extra time. Eventually, after struggling with “subversive” seat belts the parents were encouraged to proceed to the information area, where a charming lady was giving detailed explanations how to choose the right seat for a child, how to install it inside car and how to buckle up the child in the seat.
The second stage of the quest was the most popular among the young participants: the children had to choose the correct picture from the stack proposed. The right pictures were those showing the seats carrying children inside rather than toys, dolls or dogs. The main message was the following: the car seat is designed to keep only children! Making this important discovery the children already deep in the game hurried to the next stage of the quest.
The third stage left numerous participants in the dead end. Is it okay if the car seat is stashed at the shelf at home and used by a child is a toy or is permanently kept in the trunk? By choosing these familiar images taken from life the children were collecting negative points. However, one can learn even making mistakes, no wonder the game progressed in informative format! The car seat should be kept inside the car; it is here that it belongs! Having come to this conclusion teams progressed to the next tests.
The fourth step involved the providing arguments contrary to the common statements against the purchase of car seats. In addition to the standard "it's safe" argument the children with their parents persuaded opponents that "it's comfortable" as the child is seeing everything through the car window, the child is not distracting the driver while driving. Most of the regional traffic police officers were pleased when argument "it's cheap" was given together with explanations that spendings on medicines and medical treatment of an injured child were much higher, not to mention the difference between the value of human life and that of the seat.
These milestones were instructive both for children and their parents. It only remained to consolidate the knowledge acquired. It was at the final fifth stage that participants of the "adventure" giving correct answers to the questions summed up everything that they learned before.
Depending on the number of points each player received a prize: the prizes ranged from the keychain and stickers to the voucher to get a 3000 ruble discount for purchasing car seat and, of course, a certificate.
The happy winners of awards were immediately given the opportunity to take their photographs inside mini-cars which were equipped with car seats. Every child who visited the event was resolute: "Car seat is the most important of the toys!"
- The main treasure which was acquired by the members of the activity deals with in a new mind set, - said Eugeny Trubchenkov the inspector of promotion office in the Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Ryazan region. - Love is primarily the responsibility for the lives and health of your child.
When approaching the shopping mall visitors spotted special bus having a "Road Safety School" banner. So far this is the only simulator bus in Russia and it arrived to Ryazan. Young residents of Ryazan entered the bus to experience what happens to passengers when a vehicle suddenly stops. During these tests the regional traffic police officers fastened each participant. A soft elephant toy "Masha" was not fastened and falling off the seat every time the bus suddenly stopped sustained numerous bumps and bruises. Children were especially delighted to watch the cartoon where popular cartoon characters explained children the rules of conduct in public transport.
