Traffic policemen saved abandoned child

07 December 2011

Inspectors of Moscow Regional Highway patrol Service found a newly born child dying from hypothermia. They decided not to wait arrival of ambulance; using patrol car and turning blinking light on the officers delivered barely alive child to the hospital which saved his life.

Inspecting officers of Naro-Fominsk Traffic Police squadron lieutenant Vladislav Guskov and Captain Vyacheslav Kornyukhin were on a routine patrol. Without hesitation they made a U-turn as soon as they heard on radio about an abandoned child found on Vojkova Street; they drove to address given. Even weathered traffic police officers were shocked when they saw a small package lying on a concrete floor; inside was child wrapped in plastic bags. Most likely the new born child was lying there for some time; acute hypothermia caused his lips turning purple; the child was literally balancing between life and death. First of all Vladislav Guskov and Vyacheslav Kornyukhin called ambulance, and then they decided that every minute was important to save the kid's life. They sat into the patrol car and having switched blinking lights dashed to the hospital. The hospital was promptly warned about the patient to be delivered; everything was ready to administer first aid when the Traffic Police car arrived. Highway patrol officers delivered the child without delay. The doctors managed to save the life to the newborn.

It has not been established how the child was delivered to the building and who is his mother. Doctors came to conclusion that the boy was not born out of clinics; most likely the delivery was made in a maternity clinic as umbilical cord was properly treated. The police in Naro-Fominsk region are searching local maternity clinics in pursuit of a woman who was so cruel towards her baby. Canine handlers and their dog found the trail of the careless mother, yet the trail was lost at the road suggesting that the woman drove in a car leaving the child behind. Currently the life indicators of the baby came back to normal. The appropriate documents are being issued. The boy was named Vyacheslav to honor the captain who saved his life.
