Child’s Rights to Safety. Innovative educational project

15 June 2015

Natalia Agre, Road Safety Russia president, has presented the Child’s Rights project on June 13 in the Orlyonok Center, in context of the All-Russian Conference on preventive measures for children’s safe behavior on the road.

The key element of this educational initiative is the Child’s Rights Card similar to driver’s license card. The back of the Card contains seven rights that should be available to every child: safe transportation in child safety seats; safety and support when travelling by bus; reflective elements during night-time transportation; safety and helmets when travelling by two-wheel transport; safe road infrastructure; timely education on traffic rules; abidance by traffic rules by all road users.

Project organizers plan to engage and interest children in the road safety theme, draw attention of parents to the importance of teaching road safety rules to children, draw the attention of the society to the problem of child road injuries, as well as provide related institutions and offices (The State Road Traffic Inspectorate at the Ministry of Interior of Russia; the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation) with instruments for awareness-building on road safety.

«We propose creating a working group in the Child’s Rights project, and grant it the status of a state project as soon as possible. Dear colleagues, let us educate a new generation of law-abiding citizens together», - said Natalia Agre.
