Ford Driving Skills for Life Program began its way in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia

Nizhny Novgorod has become the first city to host Ford Driving Skills for Life Program on September 24 to 27 of 2015. This global social program aims to provide free education on defensive driving for drivers with little driving experience. The Russian span of the project is being jointly implemented by the Ford Sollers company and Road Safety Russia NGO. In order to enroll at the Program trainings, one needs to complete online registration on the official Ford Driving Skills for Life Program web site (www.dsfl.ru).

Ford Driving Skills for Life Program provides free classes on defensive driving for drivers with less than three years of experience. Program practice trainings has been specifically customized for climate and road conditions in Russia. Within these trainings, young drivers are taught how to prevent dangerous situations on the road, how to choose the right speed and control the space around the car, why it is necessary to buckle up and what consequences may follow the use of mobile phones while driving. The trainings are taught by professional instructors – participants of many Russian and international competitions.

Ford Driving Skills for Life Program is being held in Russia for the second time; in 2014, more than 400 people from Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kazan participated in the project. In 2015, the trainings within the project are held in six cities: Nizhny Novgorod, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Ufa, Samara and Rostov-na-Donu.

Ford Driving Skills for Life Program is part of a global social project Ford Driving Skills for Life, launched by Ford Motor Company in the USA in 2003. As of today, the project has been expanded to 20 countries all around the world. The main objective is the teaching of defensive driving principles to young drivers. The program has kick-started in 2013 in Europe, it has been joined by Russia in 2014. In the last 11 years, FDSL has been presented with multiple awards and has achieved tremendous results in the USA, as well as has helped more than 600 000 young drivers all around the world acquire important driving skills – more than 100 000 people has attended practice trainings and more than 500 000 has completed their education online.
