Invisible Menace documentary by the State Road Traffic Inspectorate at the Russian Ministry of Interior, the Russian Association of Motor Insurers and Road Safety Russia has won a prestigious award at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt within the AutoVision international festival for films, commercials, Website, and interactive productions in the automotive industry. Invisible Menace was awarded with the Silver OttoCar in the Road Safety & Accident Prevention category.

The film covers the subject of driving in poor weather conditions like rain, ice-slick, poor visibility. In the storyline, the main character faces all of these driving obstacles, while special effects and expert commentary help viewers see how exactly water, ice, and snow influence road surface and road accident rates.

Experts like Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Road Traffic Safety at the Russian Ministry of Interior Vladimir Kuzin, President of the Russian Association of Motor Insurers Igor Jurgens, Head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Centre Situation Room Yuri Varakin, Deputy Head of the Monitoring Centre of the Traffic Safety Special Designation Center at the Russian Ministry of Interior Sergey Yamschikov and others elaborate on how to overcome such difficulties in the most safe and efficient way.

In spring of 2015, the Invisible Menace film was screened in ten Russian regions within the implementation of the Safety Forecast project. Both the film and the project aimed to draw the attention of drivers to the fact that any weather changes should always lead to driving pattern changes like slowing down, increasing the distance between cars, and overall more careful driving. Invisible Menace included not only information on weather changes and their influence on the road, but also information on exhaustion and tiredness, their not-always-noticeable signs and ways of their prevention and risk minimization.

Road Safety Russia Director Vadim Melnikov made a comment on the receiving of the award: «We are happy that Invisible Menace proved visible and was noticed not only in Russia, but in Europe as well. It may seem that snow and ice are not as common here as they are in Russia; however, the main idea of the film is equally applicable to citizens of all countries. Any weather changes, be it London fog, Israeli sand storm, or Russian snowfall, should always make drivers be extremely careful and highly attentive».

Note: the International Motor Show in Frankfurt has been held since 1992. In 2013, Russia was singled out by the Golden OttoCar in the Road Safety & Accident Prevention category as well. The award was given to the Hints video clip, part of the Car Seats for Children campaign promoting the use of child safety seats.
