“Road Safety Russia” joined EASST

“Road Safety Russia” has joined the Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport (EASST).

The aim of the EASST charity working in Eastern Eourope and South Caucasus is to facilitate cross-border projects on sustainable transport and road safety. EASST collaborates with local partner organizations and intensify their efforts, by sharing know-how, experience and resources. The main goal of the Alliance is to save lives and prevent injuries on the roads due to the consolidation of the world community forces and global programs.

The Rt Hon. Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, chairman of the Commission for Global Road Safety, is the Patron of the Alliance. Lord Dubs, chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Moldova and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on European Union Enlargement, is the Chairman of the Alliance.

Natalia Agre, president of the NGO 'Road Safety Russia ", became a member of the Advisory Board of the Alliance, which also includes the heads of government ministries, commissions, businesses and public organizations on road safety the UK, USA, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine,Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Republic of Belarus.

During the working sessions Alliance members discuss public policy objectives in the sphere of road safety, consolidation of efforts of state bodies, entities of the transport infrastructure and civil society, addressing the problems of security in transport, development of the effective strategies for creation preventive measures to reduce the number of road accidents. There are several major international road safety projects on the Alliance account.

"Unfortunately,  In the Eastern Europe  and the former Soviet Union countries, the number of road accidents victims is still very large”, - said the president of the NGO" Road Safety Russia " Natalia Agre.  For instance,  a set of improving road safety projects has taken place in Russia recently. The number of events and activities are conducted in the terms of the Decade of Action declared by the UN. It comes without saying that definitely we need to work together and constantly exchange experience in order to achieve the most effective results. "Road Safety Russia" is ready to start the co operational work together with the Alliance, share the Russian experience and implement joint cross-border projects. "
