"Child Seat to Children" wins "social project of the year" award!

On 12 March 2013 the III solemn ceremony of the Golden Bear-cub National Award was held at the Korston hotel in Moscow. 20 award-winners in 16 nominations received the honorary diplomas and commemorative gold bear-cub figurines. The All-Russian Child Seat to Children project implementing the Responsible Parenting program won the prize in the Social Project of the Year nomination.

The nationwide Child Seat to Children project is carried out for two years by the Road Safety Russia NGO in partnership with the State Road Traffic Safety Department at the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation and the Russian Association of Motor Insurers (RAMI). Its goal is to foster responsibility among parents-to-be and parents with children under 12 and to convince them that children should be transported only in special car seats or other child restraints. The primary objective of the program is to downsize the number of road fatalities among child passengers.

«The saved children's lives are the most important gains for us, - said Mrs. Natalia Agre, president of the Road Safety Russia NGO. – We hope that our teamwork with the State Road Traffic Safety Department, the Ministry of Healthcare as well as with parents and children will bring tangible results in the near future. Together we can significantly reduce road traffic injuries among children».

«A child car seat is an important element in the system of safe child transportation and its efficiency is proved by numerous studies, - underlined Mr. Vladimir Shevchenko,  deputy chief of Legal Regulation and Propagation division of the Traffic Safety Department at the Ministry of Interior, colonel of police. –The All-Russian Child Seat to Children project is designed to put wise each parent about this safety device, to bring along the feeling of responsibility for their children and improve the safety of child passengers».

«We carry the childhood experiences through our whole life. That’s why we should tell the children about the safe road behaviour and the importance of complying with all safety requirements on roads and in cars from tender age. These are the goals of our projects with the State Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate and the Road Safety Russia NGO», - emphasized Mr. Pavel Bunin, president of the RAMI.

The Golden Bear-cub National Award was established in 2010 by the Association of Children’s Goods Industry as an annual branch award. The Social Project of the Year award is a public recognition of the painstaking road safety activities by the Road Safety Russia NGO in partnership with the State Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate. The victory in this contest gives new impetus to proceed with the work on improving the road safety situation in our country.
